A devastating accident near Malir Halt claimed the lives of a pregnant woman, her husband, and their newborn when a speeding water tanker crashed into their motorcycle.
According to police, 26-year-old Abdul Qayyum was taking his 24-year-old wife, Zainab, for a medical check-up when the reckless tanker struck them.
The impact killed the couple instantly, while Zainab—critically injured—gave birth at the scene. Tragically, the newborn did not survive.
Eyewitnesses reported that enraged locals attempted to set the tanker ablaze, but the driver managed to flee. Law enforcement quickly arrived to disperse the crowd and restore traffic flow.
SSP Korangi Tariq Nawaz confirmed that both the driver and his assistant have been arrested, and legal proceedings are underway.
Meanwhile, the grieving father of the deceased woman, Gul Rahman, demanded harsh punishment for the driver. Speaking to the media, he said, “My daughter was pregnant and had only left home for treatment.
The tanker crushed both my daughter and son-in-law. The driver should be hanged upside down.”
