A new trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth has just dropped, showcasing dinosaurs that are bigger and more terrifying than ever. The intense footage has already racked up over 5.6 million views in just 18 hours, and the number keeps climbing.
According to details, directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One) and written by returning Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp, the seventh film picks up five years after Jurassic World Dominion (now streaming on Peacock). Most dinosaurs released from the Lockwood Estate are dying off, unable to adapt, except for a rogue population of mutated creatures thriving on a forgotten tropical island, once an InGen lab.
Among these remnants is the Distortus Rex, or D-Rex, a terrifying apex predator described by Edwards as “if the T-Rex was designed by H.R. Giger and had sex with a Rancor.” VFX supervisor David Vickery added that its deformities evoke both horror and sympathy, making it a uniquely haunting creature.
The story follows a dangerous expedition sponsored by a pharmaceutical company aiming to harness dino DNA. Scarlett Johansson leads the team as mercenary Zora Bennett, alongside Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, and Ed Skrein. Their mission becomes even riskier when they encounter a shipwrecked family, played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, and Audrina Miranda—trapped in the island’s chaos.
Edwards describes the film as both a survival story and a tribute to Steven Spielberg’s early classics. “There are moments that feel like Jaws or E.T.,” he told Entertainment Weekly, hinting at a nostalgic yet fresh tone. While Rebirth wraps this chapter of the franchise, Edwards suggests it may mark the beginning of a new era.
Rated PG-13 for intense action, bloody images, language, and a drug reference, Jurassic World Rebirth promises a ferocious farewell—and possibly a bold new future.
