Former legendary cricketer and ex-national team captain, Waseem Akram, announced on Sunday that he will join the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) as a mentor.
Speaking to the media, Akram emphasized the league’s importance as a platform for emerging cricketers to showcase their talent. He noted that the previous season had already seen the rise of promising players.
The inaugural edition of the Kashmir Premier League is scheduled for May 2025. In addition to Akram’s mentorship, former Pakistan team captain Shahid Khan Afridi continues his role as the league’s brand ambassador, adding significant prestige and attention to the event.
The KPL is expected to feature prominent national and international cricket stars who will compete while also mentoring young talent from Kashmir, imparting their experience and knowledge. Beyond the sport, the league aims to foster stronger relations, boost tourism, and promote sports activities in Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
