For decades, New Delhi was a staunch supporter of the Palestinian cause. However, with the rise of the Hindu nationalist BJP, India began shifting its stance toward Israel. This transition is underscored by the recent appearance of the Indian tricolor flying at an Israeli base in Rafah, which signals a deepening strategic partnership between the two nations.
A viral video circulating on social media reportedly shows an Indian flag at an Israeli military base in Rafah City, Gaza, amid the ongoing conflict. The footage, shared by a Palestinian reporter on X, has sparked widespread speculation about the presence of the Indian flag in the conflict zone.
In June, it was revealed that India had been supplying advanced weaponry to Israel. Leaked documents obtained by Al Jazeera revealed that a cargo ship, which had docked off the Spanish coast, was carrying over 30 tons of rockets and explosives destined for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). The vessel had departed from southeast India and was headed for the port of Ashdod, located about 30 kilometers (18 miles) from the Gaza Strip, taking a route around Africa to avoid attacks by Houthi forces in the Red Sea.
The Gaza Health Ministry has reported that more than 50 Palestinians were killed in the past 24 hours, with a total of 88,295 people wounded in the Gaza Strip since October 7.
