ISLAMABAD: Very hot weather is expected in most plain areas of the country during the next twelve hours, the Met Office reported.
However, gusty/dust-raising winds with rain-thunderstorm is expected at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab and Kashmir. Gusty/dust-raising winds are likely in central and southern districts of the country, the Met Office added.
Temperatures of some major cities recorded this morning: Islamabad and Lahore 30°C, Karachi 29°C, Peshawar 27°C, Quetta and Gilgit 17°C, Murree 18°C, and Muzaffarabad 22 degrees centigrade.
Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh has asked people to take care during peak heatwave hours to cope with the heatwave. The general public has been advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight in peak hours with judicious use of water.
Sindh and Punjab are experiencing an extreme heatwave since Friday, with some parts reaching a temperature of 50 degrees Celsius as officials warned of acute water shortages and a health threat.

On Friday, Jacobabad hit 50°C (122 degrees Fahrenheit), the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said, making it the hottest city in the world.
The PMD alerted temperatures were between 6°C and 9°C above normal, with Islamabad as well as Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar recording temperatures around 40°C over the weekend.
