The National Highway Authority (NHA) has announced a significant increase in toll tax penalties for vehicles traveling on motorways without M-tags or with insufficient balance, effective June 15.
According to an official notification issued by the NHA, such vehicles will now be required to pay 50 percent more in toll charges.
This marks an increase from the previous 25 percent surcharge applied to non-M-tagged vehicles or those with low balance.
The revised policy aims to encourage wider adoption of the M-tag system, which facilitates smoother toll collection and reduces congestion at entry and exit points on the motorways.
Motorists are advised to ensure their vehicles are equipped with valid M-tags and that sufficient balance is maintained to avoid extra charges.
