WASHINGTON: Prominent American journalist Nick Robertson has revealed the inside story behind the ceasefire between Pakistan and India, detailing how escalating tensions nearly spiraled into a broader conflict before intense diplomacy brought both sides back from the brink.
According to Robertson, the international community had been working for days to broker peace between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
However, efforts were derailed when India launched aggressive strikes on Pakistani air bases, triggering a swift and forceful response from Islamabad.
Following the Indian attack, Robertson reports that Pakistan unleashed a barrage of missile strikes on Indian targets, overwhelming New Delhi’s defenses and pushing India to the negotiation table.
“Pakistan’s decisive missile response left India with no choice but to de-escalate,” he noted.
Robertson further stated that U.S. Secretary of State played a pivotal role in facilitating back-channel diplomacy, initiating urgent communications with Saudi and Turkish officials.
These diplomatic interventions ultimately paved the way for a negotiated ceasefire between the two nations.
