The US Embassy in Pakistan has announced a significant reduction in visa appointment waiting times. Effective immediately, the wait time has been cut from 440 days to 230 days.
An embassy spokesperson revealed that this reduction is part of a broader initiative to streamline the visa application process, particularly for student, business, and family reunion visas.
“We are working diligently to meet the growing demand and process as many applications as possible,” the spokesperson said, underscoring the embassy’s commitment to reducing wait times.
Earlier, the embassies in Islamabad and Karachi processed about 10,000 applications per month. The new measures are expected to significantly increase this capacity. The embassy is continuously refining its processes to further shorten wait times and enhance service.
For applicants who have already submitted their visa applications, the embassy has introduced an email review system. Each application will be individually assessed, with decisions typically made within three to four working days after the interview.
Regarding fees, the embassy will maintain the standard application fee, consistent with global US visa charges.
The spokesperson also noted that the past year saw the highest number of visa applications ever received by the embassy, reflecting a growing demand for US visas in Pakistan.
