WASHINGTON: The United States has condemned and expresses condolences over the murder of senior journalist Arshad Sharif and demanded a full investigation from Kenya.

US State Department spokesperson Ned Price said the world was aware of the work of journalist Arshad Sharif, and that the complete information of Arshad Sharif’s death hadn’t come to light as yet.

He asked Pakistan authorities to fulfill commitments on freedom of speech, and demanded full investigation from Kenya.

“Deeply saddened by death of Arshad Sharif. We encourage a full investigation by the Govt of Kenya into his death. It’s not entirely clear that we know all the circumstances at this point regarding what led to his death, but we do urge a full investigation”, said the State Department spokesperson.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held telephonic conversation with Kenyan President William Ruto and discussed the incident of Arshad Sharif’s murder. The Kenyan president promised to submit an investigation report on the incident soon.
