Indian forces resorted to unprovoked firing across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kayani and Mandal sectors, according to security sources.
In response, the Pakistan Army retaliated with full force, using small arms to silence the aggression. According to security sources, the effective counteraction by Pakistani troops has destroyed several Indian posts along the LoC.
Security sources confirmed that the retaliatory fire led to the destruction of the Indian “Chatkabra” post, inflicting significant damage on the enemy’s positions. The incident marks another violation of the ceasefire agreement by Indian forces, raising tensions along the heavily militarized border.
Earlier this month, troops from Pakistan and India exchanged fire overnight across the Line of Control in Indian-occupied Kashmir after the UN urged the nuclear-armed rivals to show “maximum restraint” following the massacre of Indian tourists by terrorists.
Bilateral relations between the two countries have plunged to their lowest level in years, with India accusing Pakistan of supporting “cross-border terrorism” after gunmen carried out the worst attack on civilians in the contested, Muslim-majority region of Kashmir in a quarter of a century.
