Universities asked to produce professionals for country: Zahid Husain

MM News Staff by MM News Staff
August 26, 2020

KARACHI: President, Pakistan Businessmen, and Intellectual Forum, Mian Zahid Hussain has said that an effective link between our universities and industry has not been established so far as it had already been done long ago among other developed countries of the world.

He said that at present 4 to 5 trillion dollars is being invested in the US and European global markets, China has announced to invest 4,000 billion dollars abroad, while it is investing 65 billion dollars for CPEC projects in Pakistan.

He said that in this situation, our universities should see if they are developing young people who may work in the fields of computing, engineering, supply chain, and project management, starting with such a huge investment globally and take benefit from working on upcoming projects.

This view he expressed while he was giving an interview in Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, that unfortunately, there are concerns between universities and industry in our country that need to be addressed, each university has its own standards, some good and some bad, and according to the list of the best universities in the world, the number of  Pakistani universities starts after 150.

He said that instead of producing executives or professionals, our universities are producing clerks for society, which needs attention. He said that 65 percent of the population of our country consists of youth so it is necessary to take advantage of their potential for national development and prosperity.
