GENEVA: The United Nations has begun work on a plan to help the Afghan people, with Secretary-General Antonio Guterres saying the United Nations will continue to work for the people of Afghanistan.

Earlier, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) sought $24 million in aid from the international community to help millions of people displaced in Afghanistan.
During August last year, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said it had stepped up its efforts to save lives by providing much-needed assistance in the spirit of humanitarian aid.
In August 2021, Stuart Simpson, the head of the IOM mission at the United Nations, stated that “our priorities include providing shelter to the displaced people in Afghanistan in the border areas.”
