ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information, Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that it is unfair to target government on arrest of Jang Group’s Editor-in-Chief Mir Shakilur Rehman.
Addressing a press conference, Firdous Ashiq Awan has said PTI-led government believes in freedom of press, adding that the government should not be linked with the actions taken by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
She said that Jang Geo Media Group should also take into account the government’s point of view, adding that she wanted to talk to their management to hear their side of the case as we are also responsible for them.
Commenting on Prime Minister Imran Khan, She said that PM Imran was being targeted unfairly and a negative picture was portrayed.
She further said that NAB was an independent body and it was their duty to present all the evidence in the court of law.
While clarifying her as a spokesperson of NAB, She said, “I am not NAB’s spokesperson. If I were, I would have justified the arrest soon after it was made,”
