VEHARI: A 30-year-old woman with a Master’s degree has been left with no other option except working laborer as she was unable to secure a job on merit in Punjab.
Mehwish holds a Master’s degree in Islamic studies but has been unable to secure a job. She is now compelled to work as a cleaner in the wheat procurement center for Rs. 100 only per day.
Mehwish told MM news, “Despite earning a Master’s degree, I have been applying for jobs for many years. After applying for every government job, I get shortlisted on the merit list.” However, she added, that she does not get any final call after every interview.
“I have kept it secret from my family members that work for Rs 100 on a daily basis,” she said. “I get a wage of Rs 10 or 20 per store from the grain and fruit markets,” said Mehwish.
She had appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan that the merit system should be implemented so that educated girls like her do not face any difficulties and can support their families.
