A Ukrainian drone attack on Russia’s Donetsk region disrupted electricity supply to 150,000 people and suspended train operations at a railway station, while a freight train caught fire.
According to Russian media, the Ukrainian drone attack, which began late Monday night, lasted for an hour and a half during which dozens of Ukrainian drones targeted power supply infrastructure in Makiivka and Yasynuvata. As a result of the attack, several power substations were affected and a large-scale blackout occurred in the area.
Additional damage and casualties have also been reported. During the Ukrainian drone attack, a large fire was seen in the Kuibyshevsky district of Donetsk, while reportedly, one drone crashed into a residential building in the Kyivskyi district.
In the neighboring Rostov region of Donetsk, despite several Ukrainian drones being intercepted in areas named Kamensk, Shakhtinsky, Salsk, Volgodonsk, Bokovsky, and Tarasovsky, some managed to target civilian areas. A fatality was reported in Volgodonsk as a result of a drone attack.
In Salsk, the roof of a house was damaged, and window glass shattered, while a fire also broke out at the local railway station. At least one passenger train was moved to a safe distance.
Russian Railways reported that train operations at the Salsk station in the Rostov region were temporarily suspended when debris from a drone caused a freight train to catch fire. The company said there were no casualties and the fire was quickly brought under control.
