Despite facing widespread criticism for kissing female fans during a performance, footage of which recently went viral, renowned playback singer Udit Narayan has once again defended his actions.
According to a report by Indian media on Monday, Udit Narayan remained unapologetic. He insisted that his gestures were acts of “pure affection” rather than inappropriate behavior.

He wondered why the video, which had only increased his fame amidst controversy, was suddenly popular despite the concert being months past.
What happened that day?
On that day, before the video clip went viral, Udit was performing “Tip Tip Barsa Paani” from Mohra (1994). As fans approached the stage for selfies, he bent down to pose with them, occasionally kissing female fans on the cheek.

During the sensational performance, towards the end of the video, Udit was seen pulling one lady fan close by her neck as she leaned in for a selfie. She moved to kiss his cheek, but he eventually kissed her lips, leaving the affected lady as well as other fans shocked.
The response
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama a day ago, Udit Narayan asked, “Have I ever done anything to bring shame to myself, my family, or my country?” When the interviewer said no, he continued, “Then why would I now, after achieving everything? The so-called scandalous video is just a reflection of the love between me and my fans. They love me, and I love them even more.”
