A tragic accident claimed the lives of two young men in Karachi’s old city area near Boulton Market in the early hours of Sunday.
According to police reports, a trailer struck and killed the victims, identified as Zaid and Noor Muhammad, both residents of Usmanabad in Lyari. The friends had set out on a motorcycle ride when the fatal collision occurred near New Chali.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Asad Raza confirmed that authorities have impounded the trailer and arrested the driver involved.
Family members shared that Noor Muhammad was employed in the utensil trade at Jodia Bazaar, while Zaid worked as a laborer in the fisheries sector. The two were described as close companions who had left home together shortly before the incident.
This latest tragedy follows closely on the heels of another fatal road accident in Baldia Town, where a four-year-old boy named Affan was run over by a speeding water tanker while playing near a local playground. His family alleged that tanker operators had unlawfully occupied the area.
Karachi continues to see a disturbing rise in fatal traffic accidents, especially those involving heavy vehicles. In 2025 alone, more than 250 road fatalities have been recorded, with at least 70 linked to tankers and trailers.
