At least three people aboard a passenger van in Hangu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, were allegedly killed on Saturday morning when a man allegedly shot at other commuters, police said.
“Some of the passengers on the van got into a heated argument and the situation escalated with one of them taking out his gun and opening fire on the others.” District Police Officer (DPO) Asif Bahadur was quoted as saying in Dawn.
Three people, including two ladies, lost their lives as a result, he continued. There were several injuries. Law enforcement, according to the DPO, have sealed off the area and have begun searching for the perpetrator, who escaped after the incident. The incident happened close to Hangu’s Shanawari neighborhood.
He claimed that the incident’s true motivation is still unknown.
Initial reports claimed that shots were fired at the bus, however the DPO said that the incident was actually caused by fighting among the passengers.
