KARACHI: At least two people, including a 12-year-old boy, were killed while another three sustained injures when the gas cylinder carried by a balloon vendor exploded in Karachi’s Sohrab Goth area today (Friday).
According to details, the explosion occurred while the vendor was filling balloons, and the 12-year-old boy was standing next to him. Both died on the spot.
The injured also include two minor girls. Those killed and injured were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. There was no immediate word as to the identities of the victims of the cylinder blast.
Earlier in October, a massive blast in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area had resulted in the death of five people and injuries to more than a dozen. The incident took place in a building near Abul Hassan Asfahani road, leaving a portion of the four-storey building collapse.
Eyewitnesses reported that windows of nearby buildings were shattered while some vehicles and motorcycles were also damaged. Two floors and two shops in a portion of the building were demolished.
