KARACHI: Two killed were killed and another three sustained injuries after an auto-rickshaw they were travelling in collided with an over-speeding truck near Karachi’s Manghopir Chowrangi on Monday night.
According to details, four men were on their way in a rickshaw when a rashly-driven truck hit the rickshaw near Manghopir Chowrangi, as a result, two died on the spot.
The deceased were identified as 20-year-old Sadiq and six-year-old Nazim. Resuce officials informed that the driver of the auto-rickshaw also suffered critical injuries in the accident.
The injured and bodies have been shifted to Civil Hospital, Karachi. The First Information Report (FIR) of the incident has been registered. Police have launched the search for the truck driver who fled the scene.
Earlier on Monday morning, at least six school children were crushed to death by a speeding passenger van in Khairpur city of Sindh.
Later, enraged family members of the deceased children and local residents staged a protest against the district administration and transporters on Mehran National Highway, blocking it by setting fire to tyres.
