Two fake doctors have been arrested in Bahawalnagar after they performed surgery on a female patient at a private hospital located at Hussainabad Chowk.
According to details, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered on July 24 by B Division Police following a complaint by the Deputy District Health Officer.
The FIR states that a health department team visited Zubaida Naik Hospital, where several patients, mostly post-C-section, were under treatment. Upon entering the operating theater, the team found four individuals dressed as doctors performing surgery. When asked, they failed to produce any medical licenses or qualifications and admitted they were unqualified, hired by the hospital owner Aslam Hayat.
The FIR confirms that no licensed doctor was present at the facility, and the owner, Aslam, also lacked a medical degree or license. A case has been registered against five individuals, including Aslam, who fled the scene. Two suspects have been apprehended so far.
Health department sources reported that the illegal hospital has been sealed and all patients were transferred to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital via Rescue 1122.
Reports added that the hospital had been operating for nearly 15 years and had previously been sealed multiple times by the health department, only to reopen after paying minor fines.
A senior health officer at DHQ Hospital was quoted in Dawn saying that dozens of private hospitals across Bahawalnagar, including Minchinabad, Fort Abbas, Chishtian, and Haroonabad, operate without any qualified medical professionals.
