LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader Hamza Shahbaz has filed a bail petition in the Supreme Court in two corruption cases.
The petition has been filed in the money laundering case and the assets beyond means of income case. Lawyers of Hamza Shehbaz, advocate Amjad Pervez and Azam Nazeer Tarrar on behalf of him, filed the petition in the Lahore registry of the SC. In the plea, top National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials have been named.
Hamza Shehbaz was arrested by the NAB after his interim bail was rejected by the Lahore High Court (LHC) in the Ramzan Sugar Mills and money laundering cases. According to accountability bureau, Hamza Shehbaz made five companies from 2006 to 2009 and did a business of more than Rs19billion.
Earlier this month, the Lahore High Court turned down Hamza Shehbaz’s bail petition that he filed on grounds of coronavirus risk in prison.
A two-member bench of LHC comprising Justice Syed Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Sardar Ahmed Naeem heard the case. The judge during the hearing remarked that Hamza Shehbaz’s bail petition has already been dismissed. The judge further stated that the petitioner must move to the Supreme Court.
