MULTAN: A senior official at Multan’s Nishtar Hospital informed that twelve doctors and six nurses have tested positive for coronavirus today (Sunday).
Vice-Chancellor Nishtar Medical University Dr. Mustafa Kamal Pasha said that the doctors and the nurses were exposed to the virus while treating a patient.
He said, “The paramedics had been treating a patient who had a lung disease and was tested positive for coronavirus. We conducted tests of everyone in the ward after the patient passed away.”
In Pakistan, two doctors have died after contracting the virus during the treatment of coronavirus patients with many more affected due to shortage of protective gear.
Earlier, doctors in Balochistan went on strike against the shortage of personal protective equipment and resumed work after assurances from the authorities. COAS Bajwa ordered military officials to dispatch emergency medical supplies to Quetta to meet the requirement.
So far, coronavirus has claimed lives of more than 80 people across Pakistan and has affected more than 5,000 people. Punjab remains the worst affected province from coronavirus with more than 2,400 cases.
