KARACHI: After Shaan Shahid and Reema, actor Yasir Hussain has also commented against the airing of Turkish Television show Diriliş: Ertuğrul.
In Instagram’s story, Yasir Hussain, while advising the state-run Pakistan Television (PTV) to make its own historical dramas, opined that Turkish dramas will destroy the local drama industry.
He said, “PTV should develop a historic TV show and use local artists and technicians. Those artists that give tax and have talent.” He sarcastically said, “Both second-hand clothes and Turkish dramas will both destroy the local industry.”
Explaining his opinion, he said, “When your brother, sister, and father are fired from their jobs and Turkish people are hired instead then you’ll understand what I am saying.”
Earlier, Shaan also expressed his view regarding PTV endorsing Dirilis Ertugrul. He said, “When a state-owned channel for which I pay taxes extends its support to foreign content – and furthermore, my government especially endorses it – I begin to lose hope.”
Turkish drama series Ertuğrul has swept over Pakistan with its Urdu-dubbed version airing on small screens and its episodes are trending on YouTube every day. This drama has won the hearts of millions of Pakistani fans.
