WASHINGTON: United States President Donald Trump revealed long-awaited details of a US plan on Tuesday to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian dispute, cautioning that it may serve the last chance at statehood for the Palestinians.
Donald Trump in a White House news conference said, “Israel is taking a big step towards peace today,” standing alongside visiting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as he announced the main points of the proposal that the Palestinians have already largely opposed.

“My plan offers a win-win solution for both parties, a practical two-state solution that eliminates the danger to Israel’s protection of Palestinian statehood,” Trump said.
The proposal was warmly received by Israel’s prime minister, who called it a historic day” for the Jewish state, The initiative, Trump said, imposes a four-year ban on Israeli residential development planned for a future Palestinian state. “Jerusalem must remain the undivided, very important, capital of Israel,” Trump emphasized.
No Palestinian representative was present at the launch although three ambassadors of three Arab countries Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain were present at the White House.
On the other hand, Sami Abu Zuhri leader of Hamas group said Trump’s arguments about his Mideast policy were “threatening” and his Jerusalem proposals are “nonsense”. Donald Trump’s speech is provocative and will trigger a great deal of outrage, he said.
