Trump is a clown who will betray Iranian people: Khamenei

Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said that Donald Trump is a ‘clown’, who will betray the Iranian people.

Addressing the Friday prayers in Tehran for the first time since 2012, Iran’s supreme leader said that Donald Trump will push a poisonous knife into nation’s back.

Khamenei said that America had cowardly killed the most effective commander, General Qasem Soleimani, in an air strike in Baghdad. He further said that outpouring of grief at the funeral of Qasem Soleimani showed the support of Iranian people with Islamic Republic.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that missile attack in retaliation of US air strike was a blow to America’s image as a superpower.

He said, “Western countries are too weak to bring Iranians to their Knees.” He added that Iran was willing to negotiate but not with United States.

Thousands of people attended the Friday prayers and occasionally interrupting his speech by chanting “God is greatest!” and “Death to America!”

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has held the country’s top office since 1989 and has the final say on all major decisions.
