The U.S. government has withdrawn its support for Ukraine in the Russia-Ukraine war. U.S. President Donald Trump has called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a dictator, further escalating tensions between the two leaders.
The U.S., which has provided massive aid to Ukraine in the war, has hinted at surrendering in favor of Russia. President Trump, responding to Zelensky’s statement on U.S.-Russia negotiations in Saudi Arabia, criticized him for refusing to hold elections and accused his government of violating agreements.
Interestingly, the U.S., which had been backing Ukraine in the war against Russia, has now started advocating for a ceasefire. In a post on the social media platform Truth, President Trump stated that Zelensky’s country has been destroyed and that he himself is responsible for the deaths of millions. He added that the U.S. is now successfully negotiating with Russia to end the war.
Reacting to Trump’s statement, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson called his criticism absurd, while British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer expressed support for Zelensky and emphasized the necessity of suspending elections during the war.
