RAWALPINDI: The transgender community in Rawalpindi protested against the Station House Officer (SHO) of Banni Police Station for releasing an accused allegedly involved in attacking the house of a transgender.
According to details, the community chanted slogans against the police and the SHO Banni for ‘failing to provide justice to them’ and releasing the attacker. Led by Fauzia Pathani, the protesters said they will fight for their rights until the police provided justice to them.
On the occasion, Fauzia Pathani informed that the Banni police station registered a case after a thorough inquiry and on the orders of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rawis Khan.
Later, according to the transgender, the influential accused obtained interim bail from the court and the police sought time from the court at each hearing. “When we earlier protested, the Rawalpindi police assured justice, but nothing happened,” she added.
Fauzia Pathani further said that such influential criminals were killing us in different cities, and the black sheep in the police were patronizing them. “We will continue are protest until justice and security are guaranteed,” she added.
