LAHORE: Famous transgender model and actress Rimal Ali has been given the membership of Insaf Welfare Wing by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday.
Rimal has also been given the membership of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and she been appointed Assistant to the President for Gender Discrimination in both institutions.
Rimal Ali, who was allegedly kidnapped and tortured just a couple of days ago, rose to international reputation as Pakistan’s first transgendered model. After the terrible incident she had encountered, she hopes to toughen the community she belongs to, for people like her.
The torture incident has been doing the rounds on social media, making the ill-treatment by the culprits’ public. People have supported Ali in every step she has taken and raised their voices against violence in the community.
Talking to the media, the starlet said, “It is a matter of pride for me to be a part of PTI and I will raise my voice for her peers in every forum”.
“I was encouraged by the public when I started my career and luckily, have got opportunities to work with renowned actors and actresses, including Mahira Khan. Showbiz is my passion and I will not leave it,” Rimal Ali added.
