A woman was burned to death due to a fire caused by gas accumulation in a flat in the Gulbahar area of Karachi, as reported by national media on Thursday.
According to police, an explosion occurred on the ground floor of a residential building in Gulbahar due to a gas leak in a flat. The explosion triggered a fire, severely burning a 50-year-old woman who later succumbed to her injuries.
The explosion may have been caused by a short circuit or lighting a flame. Police are investigating the incident.
It is worth noting that fire incidents are becoming increasingly common in Karachi. Earlier, a massive fire broke out at the Millennium Mall, one of the busiest commercial centers in Gulistan-e-Johar, Karachi. The fire incident occurred during the night between June 17 and 18, engulfing the mall’s building within moments.
The fire originated in the control room located on the third floor of the mall, where a short circuit in the electrical system caused flames to erupt, according to rescue sources.
Strong winds, a faulty fire suppression system, and electric chillers on the rooftop worsened the situation. The flames quickly spread from the roof to the lower floors.
