LAHORE: The health of minor domestic abuse victim Rizwana has improved after being in critical condition for several days.
The 14-year-old domestic worker is still undergoing treatment at the Lahore General Hospital for the eighth day and has shown signs of improvement.
Dr Jodat Saleem, who heads the medical board formed to look after the girl’s health condition, said the minor Rizwana has started taking light food. He said the girl’s medication has been replaced by antibiotics, while her oxygen level has improved since last night.
He said the Special Medical Board will conduct a detailed medical examination of Rizwana on Monday Tuesday afternoon (today) and provide an update on her condition.
The hospital administration said a cardiologist, pulmonologist, psychologist, and physiotherapist have also been included in the medical board.
It said all necessary tests are being conducted on a daily basis but there are fluctuations in health conditions due to various diseases.

Earlier it was reported that Rizwana is in critical condition after she was diagnosed with sepsis. The medical board formed over her condition also revealed that the girl was poisoned.
Doctors said that the next 48 hours are critical for Rizwana. Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI) Principal Sardar Muhammad Al-Fareed Zafar said that Rizwana’s condition deteriorated on Sunday when her oxygen level dropped.
He said that a cardiologist had been made to the medical board overseeing her treatment. He said that the board assessed her condition again which revealed that Rizwana is suffering from sepsis and both her lungs are affected.
The medical officer said that one of her lungs is affected while the other has drops of blood in it. He added that more samples had been sent to the laboratory for analysis.
Rizwana was brought to Lahore’s General Hospital where a 12-member special medical board under Dr Jodat Saleem was constituted to oversee her treatment.
The initial medical report said that Rizwana had 15 wounds on her body including a wound on the head and her internal organs had also sustained damage.
