In the new Netflix film “Havoc,” disillusioned police officer Tom Hardy portrays Walker, a man battling personal demons while attempting to rescue a corrupt politician’s son from both organized crime syndicates and a compromised police force. The film is directed by Welsh filmmaker Gareth Evans, renowned for his critically acclaimed action thrillers “The Raid” and “The Raid 2.”
Set against the backdrop of an unnamed urban landscape, “Havoc” follows Walker, a shady character, yet demonstrates a degree of remorse that positions him, by default, as the story’s reluctant moral center.
Struggling with a sense of purposelessness, Walker finds renewed focus when Charlie (Justin Cornwell), the estranged son of a prominent politician, becomes entangled in a murder investigation involving a local drug dealer. Tasked with protecting Charlie and his girlfriend from the vengeful mother of the deceased and her network of violent enforcers, Walker is aided by Ellie (Jessie Mei Li), a sharp and idealistic rookie officer.
Meanwhile, he must also confront Vincent (Timothy Olyphant), a deeply corrupt and jaded senior police officer.

Is the film worth watching?
For those who appreciate intense, visceral action, Evans delivers an experience rich in chaos and violence. While not suited for the faint-hearted, “Havoc” showcases Evans operating once again near the peak of his creative powers. If graphic and gritty action sequences do not deter you, “Havoc” is certainly worth your time.
