Three youths drowned at Karachi’s Hawkesbay Beach while bathing on Sunday, despite government restrictions.
According to media reports, the three youths were swimming at Hawkesbay beach in Karachi when they drowned. Rescuers managed to recover the body of one of the victims, while another, who was found unconscious, was also pulled from the water and rescued.
The search for the third victim was ongoing at the time of filing this report. The deceased was identified as 25-year-old Ali Hassan, while the rescued individual was identified as Farhan.
Despite the imposition of Section 144 in Karachi’s coastal areas, which prohibits swimming in the sea, people continue to visit the beaches and risk their lives by ignoring the ban.
Meanwhile, in another tragic incident, as many as two people lost their lives, one was critically injured, while four others went missing when a vehicle carrying a marriage party fell into a river in Gilgit on Sunday.
The incident took place near Burdas Nagar. Rescue 1122 sources said that seven persons were on board the ill-fated vehicle, and the bodies of two persons were recovered during the rescue operation.
All persons were returning after participating in a wedding ceremony.
Rescue 1122 divers and local volunteers took part in the operation, which was underway till the filing of this news.
