Three policemen were arrested for selling ecstasy pills at a secret dance party in Lahore, a private TV channel reported on Sunday.
The arrests were made by Masti Gate police during a special raid. The arrested policemen were identified as Constable Mohammad Idrees, Mohsin Sajjad, and Asif. All three were working at Nawab Town Police Station.
Police said they found 47 ecstasy pills with the suspects. A First Information Report (FIR) was filed against them at Masti Gate Police Station.
This action was part of a crackdown ordered by Lahore’s Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) of Police, Faisal Kamran, to stop drug use at illegal dance parties in the city. He had instructed that the campaign should target both buyers and sellers, even if they are policemen.
What are Ecstasy Pills?
Ecstasy, also called MDMA, is a drug that acts as both a stimulant and a hallucinogen. It gives people more energy and changes how they see and feel things. It is often used at parties to feel happy, closer to others, and more open emotionally.
Ecstasy is usually sold as pills or powder with colorful logos and names like Adam, Disco Biscuit, Hug Drug, XTC, and Molly. People can swallow, snort, or smoke it.
Taking large amounts can overheat the body, which may cause serious health problems like liver and kidney failure, brain swelling, or even death. Using it repeatedly in a short time can be very dangerous because it stays in the body for a long time.
