KARACHI: Three policemen were arrested after a fast-moving dumper truck hit a police van on Karachi’s Northern Bypass on Tuesday.
According to details, the incident occurred on the Northern Bypass of Karachi, where a collision between a police mobile and a dumper took place near a bus terminal. As a result, three personnel sustained severe injuries.
The dumper driver managed to escape from the scene, while the accident took place with a police mobile of Mochko police station. The dumper has been taken into police custody.
Police said the dumper was driven carelessly and collided with a police van due to high speed while the policemen were on duty. A case will be registered against the accused and action will be taken against him, police added. The injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.
Earlier, a man was killed and another man was seriously injured in a road mishap within the limits of the New Faujdari police station in Shikarpur.
According to police sources, two young men riding a bike were on their way to somewhere when a speeding Mazda pickup hit them from the backside, as a result, Fawad Hussain Katpar, aged 35 and Abdul Hafeez Soomro, 40 were seriously injured.
The injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital Shikarpur where one of the injured, Fawad, succumbed to his injuries, while another injured was referred to the Sukkur hospital due to his grave condition. The area police have confiscated the Mazda. However, the driver of the vehicle managed to escape.
The body was handed over to his heirs after a medico-legal formality from the Civil Hospital Shikarpur, said police. Police also registered an FIR against the vehicle’s driver and started further investigation.
