KARACHI: A woman and two children were killed while six others were injured when a cylinder blast occurred on Wednesday morning in Karachi.
The incident occurred in a shop located in Mosmiyat area of the city. At least six people were injured in the incident while three others were killed. Rescue forces reached the site of the incident. The injured were shifted to hospital for further treatment while three were pronounced dead on arrival.
The explosion was so powerful that it destroyed three shops and a vehicle parked nearby. A bomb disposal squad has been called to determine the cause of the explosion. Police and security forces cordoned off the area after the incident.
In another incident on April 2, two employees were seriously injured when a fire broke out in a restaurant after a cylinder explosion in Malir Model Colony of Karachi.
According to police, the gas cylinder caused the explosion in a restaurant. Two fire brigade vehicles rushed to the spot and doused the fire quickly. The fire reportedly started due to short-circuit which led to the gas cylinder explosion. Two persons sustained severe burn injuries as the blaze caused heavy damage to the eatery.
