Three killed as severe storm hits parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Three people were killed and more than 10 were injured as the severe storm hit Peshawar, Nowshera, and Charsadda of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday evening.

As per media reports, Peshawar and its surrounding areas experienced a severe storm with strong winds, resulting in the loss of precious lives and injuries to several individuals in different incidents.

In the Ghanta Ghar vegetable market, two people lost their lives and three others were injured when a tree fell due to the strong winds.

Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Sarmad Saleem Akram, accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Rao Hashim Azeem, carried out an emergency visit to the areas affected by the recent storm.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner extended his heartfelt condolences to the families impacted by the disaster and assured them of the full support of the district administration.

He instructed the concerned departments to ensure that all injured individuals receive the highest standard of medical care. Additionally, he ordered an immediate inspection of trees, electric poles, and other potentially dangerous structures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Meanwhile, Rescue 1122 has confirmed that the storm claimed the life of one child and left 11 others injured across Peshawar, Nowshera, and Charsadda.

According to Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmed Faizi, multiple incidents were reported in Peshawar, including roof and wall collapses in Afghan Colony, Asad Anwar Colony, and Rano Ghari.

Tragically, a six-year-old nomadic child lost his life in Rano Ghari when a wall collapsed on him. Five others sustained injuries in related incidents and were promptly given medical treatment and transferred to hospitals.
