KARACHI: Three people died today (Monday) in rain-related incidents as the metropolis received heavy rainfall, causing immense inconveniences to the citizens.
According to details, two people from Karachi’s Ibrahim Haideri died after the roof of their home collapsed, while another death was reported from Liaquatabad Town. Over 20 young men have so far been injured in motorcycle accidents because of the rain.
Heavy rains have disrupted daily life in the city. The supply of electricity to key localities has also been affected. The rain has lowered sweltering temperatures and brought some much-needed relief to the citizens.
Several areas of the city’s centre, Saddar, were submerged with accumulated rainwater and gutters were seen overflowing on Zaibunissa Street, Empress Market, among other areas.
Earlier today (Monday), between 2pm to 3pm, the horizon was covered with dark clouds. The Meteorological Department has forecast cloudy weather with chances of light rain in the metropolis during the next 48 hours.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to remain in the range of 30 to 32 and 22 to 24, respectively, degrees centigrade, with 65 to 75 percent humidity during the next 24 hours.
