ISLAMABAD: A three-day snow festival started on Friday in Galyat to promote the area as an adventure tourism destination across the world.
The three-day snow festival, featuring a number of winter sports, games and competitions held in Nathia Gali, Donga Gali and Ayubia.
The Galyat Development Authority’s (GDA) spokesman, Ahsan Hameed said the event has received a great response on social media as local and foreign tourists are coming to Galyat in droves, which would help boost businesses in three valleys.
He said it was the first time in the history that the GDA had planned a multi-locations for the festival has a number of games and competitions for the tourists including skiing, sculpture making, graffiti, tug of war, ice football, archery, snow tubing, and V-log and photography competitions.
The spokesman said motorbike and jeep rallies had also been arranged in the valleys on 1st and 2nd February. He said the cultural and food stalls, music concerts had been installed in different valleys to showcase the unique culture and splendid cuisine of the area.
The main objective of the snow festival is to lure tourists from across the world for winter sports at Galyat. As many as 205, 200 local and foreign tourists have visited different valleys of Galyat during the last month of the previous year.
Earlier the prime minister Imran has decided to prop up tourism in the mountainous regions while further instructing to conduct a survey to find out more attractive spots in Galyat.
He tasked officials to build three-star hotels, food streets, cinema, chair lifts, and new parking areas. It is pertinent to mention here that due to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s tourism policies, Skardu in Gilgit Baltistan has become the center of tourists’ attraction.
