QUETTA: Three children today (Thursday) were killed following the explosion of a hand grenade that they picked up while playing on the scene in the Kharotabad suburban area of Quetta.
According to details, rescue officials have shifted the bodies of the deceased children to Bolan Medical Complex (BMC) Hospital. An inquiry is underway to determine where the children found the hand grenade.
According to Balochistan government spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani, three others were injured in the explosion. Shahwani further said that the police have reached the site of the incident and have begun a probe into the nature of the explosion. “The injured children are being provided the best possible treatment in hospital,” he added.

In January, a similar incident was reported in Peshawar where two children were killed after the hand grenade they were playing with went off in the Zangali area of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) capital.
Three other persons had also sustained wounds as a result of the explosion. Rescue officials had said that the children found the hand grenade and accidentally set it off.
