The ongoing protests of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party have affected the Metro Buses service in Islamabad and Rawalpindi to the extent that it is presently in partial suspension.
As of Monday morning, the service between Streets Saddar Station to Faizabad in Rawalpindi is still functioning, however, the service from Faizabad up to the Secretariat remains closed as per the orders issued by the Government of Pakistan.
The ongoing protests affected the Metro Bus services in Lahore as well. Over this past weekend, only the service connecting Gaju Matta to MAO College was operational while services between MAO College and Shahdara were suspended.
Officials are reminding passengers about the possible changes that may occur as events progress. More information will be available as district administrations keep the situation under observation.
On Sunday, police cleared road blockades and containers in the city, reopening key routes, including the Eastern Bypass, to restore normal traffic flow. The barricades had been initially placed to manage protests over rising prices, calls for the PTI founder’s release, and demands for judicial independence.
