KARACHI: In a bid to facilitate the people of the province, the Sindh government has decided to run at least one round-the-clock vaccination centre in every district, Parliamentary Secretary for Health Qasim Soomro announced on Sunday.
In an announcement made by the provincial government, nine major vaccinations centres would operate round the clock in Karachi as they have been provided with adequate health staffers and vaccines to deal with the rising number of people visiting the vaccination centres.
Here’s the list of the centres:
- Dow University’s Ojha Campus (District East)
- Khaliq Dina Hall (District South)
- Jinnah Medical College Hospital (District South)
- Children’s Hospital, North Nazimabad (District Centre)
- Sindh Government Hospital, North Karachi (District Centre)
- Government Qatar Hospital (District West)
- Sindh Government Korangi No. 5 Hospital (District Korangi)
- Murad Memon Hospital, Malir
- Karachi Expo Centre
“The government is also making preparations for a drive-thru vaccination facility as well”, the Health Secretary said, adding that 15 new centres will be opened in the city.
People rushed to vaccination centres across the city after the Sindh government tightened coronavirus restrictions and imposed a partial lockdown.
COVID positivity reaches 23.79%
Meanwhile, the rate of coronavirus positivity in the metropolis could not be reduced as it reached 23.79% in 24 hours, a spokesman for the Sindh Health Department said Sunday.
Out of 11, 065 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, 2,632 people tested positive, he said.
