KARACHI: Karachi Police Chief Khadim Hussain Rind has said that the force is facing a shortage of 14,000 personnel for election security.
According to the details, Karachi Police Chief Khadim Hussain Rind said in a statement that Karachi Police needs 14,300 more security personnel to conduct the election 2024 peacefully. 46,760 personnel are required for the security plan.
In a statement, Additional IG Karachi Khadim Hussain Rind said that Karachi Police has 31,776 personnel, and women police personnel are not available in the required number for the security arrangements of ladies’ polling station in Karachi. At least 3200 women are required.
Police Chief Khadim Hussain Rind said that Karachi Police has a force of 1200 female personnel, but KPO lacks at least 2000 female personnel. Under the security plan, 8000 personnel are needed at the most sensitive polling stations in Karachi.
Additional IG Khadim Hussain Rind said that 6,000 and 4,000 normal personnel are required for the sensitive polling stations of Karachi, while 2,033 polling stations are the most sensitive, 3,008 sensitive, and 308 normal polling stations in Karachi.
Khadim Hussain Rind said that there is a shortage of 16,264 personnel for the most sensitive polling stations, 18,480 for sensitive, and 1,232 for normal. 35,544 officials will be posted at 5,349 polling stations in Karachi.
A Quick Response Force will be deployed at the buildings of polling stations. Karachi Police Chief said that 3,892 QRF personnel will be deployed for 2,774 buildings. 4,210 personnel will do reserve duty under the supervision of DIG Police.
He said that we are considering various proposals to meet the shortage of personnel. In place of women officials, ladies’ health workers, or polio staff other options including private security guards and anti-encroachment are being considered.
