KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly reacted to the rise in petroleum prices and said that the only solution to get rid of inflation is to overthrow Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in his special statement said that the PPP era was the worst global economic crisis but we did not allow the people to bear the burden of inflation. The federal government should immediately reduce the prices of petroleum products in line with world market prices.

He said that PM Imran Khan used to make big claims that 2021 will be the year of prosperity, now 2022 has come, where did that claim of prosperity go?, Bilawal maintained. Every year in New Pakistan proved to be more expensive than last year Governments were incompetent, he asserted.
It should be noted that the federal government has announced another increase in the prices of petroleum products. According to the notification issued by the Finance Division on Friday, for the first 15 days of January 2022, petrol and high-speed diesel prices will be increased by Rs 4 per liter.

The new prices will take effect on January 1. The increase has been announced to meet the petroleum levy target set by the International Monetary Fund. According to the notification, the price of kerosene has been increased by Rs 3.95 per liter and light diesel by Rs 4.15 per liter.
After the increase, the price of petrol will increase from Rs 140.82 per liter to Rs 144.82 per liter while the price of high-speed diesel will increase from Rs 137.62 to Rs 141.62 per liter.
The price of light diesel oil will increase from Rs 107.06 to Rs 111.06 per liter. Similarly, the price of kerosene will increase from Rs 109.53 to Rs 113.53 per liter.
