A month before Spooky Season, horror flick ‘The Nun II’ is set to kick things off with a bang as it is all set to hit theatre this month for a limited time.
The Nun 2 is a sequel to 2018’s The Nun which opened in theaters in 2018. In the upcoming horror, Sister Irene (Tessa Farmiga) is forced to once again face Valak, a malevolent demon, to stop evil from spreading after the mysterious death of a priest.
The ninth installment in the chronologically confusing Conjuring universe is considered one of the best horror movie franchises.
The Nun II
The Nun II will feature Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene who will somehow come back, however, we still dont know if that means there will be a connection made between her and sister Vera Farmiga of the 2013 movie.
Who’s in the movie?
- Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene
- Jonas Bloquet as Frenchie
- Storm Reid as Sister Debra
- Anna Popplewell as Kate
- Bonnie Aarons as Valak / the Nun
- Katelyn Rose Downey as Sophie
Release date
The movie will hit the theaters this week on September 8.
It has a September 8, 2023, theatrical release date, and mid-November would be 70 days after this which means ‘The Nun 2’ will likely be on Max in November 2023.
It’s been confirmed that The Nun 2 runs for 109 minutes and 35 seconds, or just shy of one hour and 50 minutes if you prefer.
Estimated box office collection
According to Deadline, ‘The Nun II’ is on track for a $30 million-plus opening over weekend. While an opening in the $30 million range is not quite as good as the $53.8 million that The Nun opened with back in 2018, it is still a promising start for the horror flick, which was impacted by the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
However, if The Nun II does open to $30M+, it would be a bigger opening than the last two Conjuring installments — Annabelle Comes Home (2019) and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021) — which debuted to $20.2M and $24.1M, respectively.
