Extreme anger has been observed among extremist circles over the inclusion of the host country’s name, “Pakistan,” on the Indian cricket team’s new jersey for the Champions Trophy.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had refused to send the Indian team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025 and had their matches shifted to a neutral venue in Dubai. However, according to ICC regulations, the host country’s name was mandatory on the Indian team’s jersey.
During the jersey unveiling, Indian captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya, and other players were seen wearing the new uniform, which featured the Champions Trophy 2025 logo along with the host country’s name, “Pakistan.”
Seeing this, Indian extremists reacted with intense anger and launched a campaign against it on social media. Initially, the BCCI also opposed the decision, but after the ICC’s firm stance, the Indian team had to comply with the regulations.
It is worth noting that the Indian media had previously claimed that their team would not print the host country’s name on their jersey. However, following ICC’s strict directive, the BCCI confirmed that their team would adhere to the prescribed rules.
Despite the outrage from Indian extremists, ICC regulations mandate that all teams’ jerseys in the Champions Trophy 2025 will prominently display the host country’s name, “Pakistan.”
