South Indian actor-turned-politician Thalapathy Vijay Joseph hosted an Iftar gathering in Chennai to mark the holy month of Ramzan, as reported by Indian media.
According to a report by The Times of India on Friday, wearing traditional white attire and a skullcap, the Leo star joined the evening prayers before breaking the fast with attendees, as Muslims do.
The event took place at the YMCA grounds in Royapettah and was reportedly organized by his political party. According to Free Press Journal, imams from 15 mosques across Chennai were invited, and arrangements were made for nearly 3,000 people.
Reports indicate that Vijay, born as Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar, observed a full day of fasting in accordance with Islamic customs before hosting the feast.
Event photos and videos went viral on social media, showing Vijay in moments of prayer and community gathering. The gesture to promote Muslims was widely praised, while fans applauded his courage for attending the event.
On the political front, Vijay is preparing for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections, where he will contest independently to win a seat. The actor was last seen in Venkat Prabhu’s action film The Greatest of All Time (GOAT) alongside Prabhu Deva.
