KARACHI: At least ten labourers sustained injuries on Monday following a gas leakage explosion at Hub Chowki area of Balochistan.
According to rescue officials, a blast took place inside a factory located near Hub Chowki. The injured were moved to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The seriously injured have been moved to the Karachi Civil Hospital’s Burns Ward. The condition of four labourers is said to be critical.
The injured were named as 45-year-old Haseel s/o Mir Badshah, Tanveer, 30, Nasir, 40, Mohsin, 40, Muhammad Azam, 55, Zulfiqar, 27, Sadakat, 30 years old and others. The doors of the factory have been closed after the blast
Meanwhile, five people were dead after heavy snowfall caused road accidents in Kalat, Mastung and Ziarat areas of Balochistan. In another incident, a vehicle fell into a gorge in Ziarat while several roads were blocked by the snowfall.
Balochistan PDMA said they had cleared Quetta-Mastung, Ziarat-Muslim Bagh and other roads. Snow removing machines were working in Qila Saifullah district.
According to the Meteorological Department, the cold snap intensified after the snowfall. Kalat recorded extreme temperatures of minus 9, Quetta minus 5, Dalbandin minus 3, and Naukundi minus 1 degree Celsius.
