CHRISTCHURCH: New Zealand easily beat Pakistan by 9 wickets in the fourth match of the tri-nation series at the Hagley Oval stadium in Christchurch on Tuesday.
Pakistan after winning the toss decided to bat first, but failed to post a big total on the board and only managed to score 130 runs for the loss of seven wickets.
Pakistan made just one change from the side that beat the Black Caps by six wickets at the same Hagley Oval venue on Saturday with teenage fast-bowler Naseem Shah coming in for Harris Rauf.
On the other hand, New Zealand made two changes from the team which beat Bangladesh by eight wickets on Sunday with bowlers Adam Milne and Trent Boult replaced by Mitchell Santner and Blair Tickner.
Michael Bracewell took the key wickets of the opening pair of Mohammad Rizwan (16) and captain Babar Azam (21) in fine figures of two for 11 from his four overs.
Tim Southee took two wickets in two balls at the end of the innings. Pakitan’s Iftikhar Ahmed remained the top scorer with 27 runs. Asif Ali made 25 runs.
New Zealand chased down the target of 131 runs in 17th over with nine wickets in hand. Finn Allen scored brilliant 62 runs. Shadab Khan took the only wicket.
