Sweden’s judiciary and police have allowed anti-Islamic extremists to burn copies of the Holy Quran, on the first day of Eid al-Azha.
The provocative act is to be carried out outside a mosque in the capital Stockholm, where several police vehicles have been stationed since Wednesday morning. Like many other European countries, Muslims in Sweden also celebrate Eid on Wednesday i.e. today.
In Sweden, the anti-Islamic extremists tried to kill the Holy Quran twice before because of their enmity with Turkey and Islam, but the police did not allow it.
According to the Swedish media, the police cited security concerns as the justification for not allowing the Holy Quran to be burned, but the court declared that there was no security concern.
The court said that the security concerns related to the burning of the Holy Quran are not such that under existing laws this type of gathering should not be allowed.
The Swedish court has declared the right to freedom of expression as the justification for allowing the Holy Quran to be martyred, but Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme has opposed it in the interests of the country.
